Default Chinook Report

I didn't look thoroughly, but in a quick glance I did not see any Chinook reports....my neighbor got 3 and lost 3 out of Garibaldi....they were up in the water column.......all 20-30 pounds....

What the heck is your neighbor fishing in? With the way the wind has been going, it must have been something big!

TURN OFF THE WIND MACHINE! Salmonizing should be hot if we can ever get out there after em.

Threemuch...

NO! LEAVE THE WIND MACHINE ON...

Threemuch needs more time to fix his boat. Howze it going?

Actually I think that only one week of wind is not enough to get the upwelling going. It has been major flat water for us since the winter. Traditionally it blows for month in the Spring.

Mello Yello, what forecast are you looking at? All I see is 20kt N wind for the next week with 4 and 4 or even 4 and 5. That is for central and North coast.

46050 bouy is marking 'steep' and 'very steep' for wave types and the waves are all chop.

Heck, my boat will be down until next year, at least that is the plan unless I come into some quick money.

But I can always crew!

WRT the upwelling, 25kts all darn day every day is not required. Standard nice and calm in the morning, with 20kts in the afternoon would be just fine. Upwelling with no window to fish is not cool!

Heck... I can see Threemuch and Pilar as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid... They could rob banks to finance the repair of Threemuch. But that last bank in Bolivia was a sonofabitch...

I will keep you all on the list and if there is a chance for an open seat on any of the trips i make, you are the first to choose from. Thanks again guys. id. p.

HJ- It means the fish were in the top 100'....typically Chinook are on or near the bottom in the spring and and therefore require very large (40lb) downrigger balls to troll for them....

As for location, he was due west on the 300' line......

Lepper, Fog Schmog...

I have 5 waypoints logged in the Charleston Channel and have twice left and re-entered the channel using only the waypoints...it's my passenger's job to watch for chip ships.....

We're heading out for kings in the morning...will post of our great successes....the yellow boat has yet to come back without fish slime...OOPS! Did I just say that out loud? No problem...am taking bottom fish rigs too..................

We need to get w/TC and setup a weekend of PO bottom fishing some time soon. Maybe a little 30 fathom butt hunting too!

Hmmmm, is the Silver fishing any good off PO?

TC!!! Where are you?

I'm going out of Charleston Sat, the conditions look perfect. Just got my new downrigger installed tonight, and I'm itch'n to break it in.

Would be nice to hook-up with some of you guys and spread out to look for 'em. Is it channel 19 you use? Lepper, got your boat ready?

Sorry for the belated report, been working on the new house....

We went out of Charleston Friday...caught two feeders (8-10#). Got them about 90' down in 250' of water straight off Whistler. Ate them last night......mmmmmmmmmm.........fat just oozing out of them.

Spent the rest of the weekend hauling rotten stumps away...

Diamondback, you are an evil person!! Since I went with you that one day I've been pretty much working on my boat non-stop. But man you should see my DASH!

I normally run 19 when i'm out. And sounds like a plan to go out of PO for bottom fish.. could be a lot of fun. hey mello, how far out past the whisler was ya?

I dunno. Prolly bout 2 miles...just keep going West till you hit 250'...or till you start marking fish. Most of the fish were about 30' off the bottom. We could almost get to 200'....sigh

Lepper-
Ya but that diamond plate will make your boat go faster!

We went down to Simpson after dropping off the crab pots. 19 blacks and 3 lings kept (two rods). 8 crab kept, lots of soft females out there. Trolled for salmon out about 5 miles/50 fathoms. Caught one hake(?), and one ~7 lb clipped Coho (while putting out the downrigger). No Nookie :depressed:

What a beautiful day on the big pond  4' swells at about 15 seconds and negligible wind.
