Re: september goose regs
You can only take Honkers. NO SPECKS OR CACKLERS.

Re: september goose regs
I would think, knowing they are trying to protect them, you wouldn't consider taking them regardless of regs. The whole point of the permit zone during regular seasons is to protect them and try to keep track of those taken incidentally. It is how the states keep the feds from closing our goose hunting to avoid dusky harvest. If we start targeting duskys, I'm sure they will make adjustments to the early season. I'm sure someone will correct me if that is a misstatement. Don't know that "true" duskies are present in sept .

Re: september goose regs
But if we do accidentally shoot a dusky, does it go against us for the regular season?

I imagine you can get a ticket for it.The reg's state Honker's(Western's) only so Dusky's are a NO NO.....But you can harvest a Wuskie....

I concur. It states honkers so i would leave the dusky's alone. And im guessing if you do shoot a dusky you will lose your permit or get a nice ticket. You can harvest a wuskie if it is properly marked as that signifies a local western/dusky cross. I would not shoot an unmarked bird though.

Re: september goose regs
GUYS! First step is to look at the name of the season: September CANADA Goose season. That rules out whitefronts or anything ohter than CANADA geese. Next step: look for footnote closures: Aleutians and Cacklers are closed. Outside of that, the only closures are in people's minds and purely by speculation and guessing. Dusky canadas are legal game in september and there are a few around as early as september.
Ofcourse shooting a dusky canada in september is shooting ourselves in the foot, with the possible exception of the rare Dusky that dwells in the General zone and also the rarer dusky that has, for whatever reason, stopped migrating to Alaska.

I have only been goose hunting once before, and it was not in the permit zone. I plan to never shoot a dusky, but sometimes it happens. Just ask guys that have hunted geese a lot!
The reason I asked is because you don't need a permit for the early season, and therefore I didn't know if there was a way it went against you for when you do pick-up you permit for the regular season.
obviously not.
I'm not quite sure what your trying to get at, but if you are so high up there and know so much about it, why don't you help the less experinced instead of trying to make a joke of it...

First of all its not a thread it is a post. A thread is a whole bunch of posts or a new topic. The thread was about september regs and adjhunt posted on the thread. So therefore that eliminates his post as a thread. See that wasnt very nice of me to point out your imperfection and for that i apologize but why not help the guy out instead of questioning him or trying to belittle him.
So the constructive answer would have been:
No, Andrew it will not count against you and upon some further research i revoke my earlier post.... shooting a dusky will have no effect on you if you shoot one now. But as dave said i would avoid em unless they fall under the catagories he discussed.
See that isnt too hard to be nice and help out a person who might not be as experienced.
