Good tip
I read somewhere the other day about marking the points of your hooks with a magic marker after you sharpen them. It slows corrosion and lets you know at a glance if your hooks are sharp.
I thought it was a good idea.

Re: Good tip
Wow, that's WAY too easy! Wish I would have thought of that years ago!
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try it this weekend!

Re: Good tip
When I read it my little pea brain went "D'oh"
It's such an easy thing to do and I use magic markers to touch up the blueing on my beater rifles.

Re: Good tip
BH,
I only do it on the finish. My main "beater rifle" is a $1200 custom built 338-06, The other beater (boat gun) is a SS Winchester M70 Clasic in 375-8mm Rem. that weighs 8lbs and hurts to shoot.
I don't get to use them as much here in Oregon as I did in SE Alaska :depressed:

Re: Good tip
When I was first learning how to sharpen a knife long a go, I read about using a magic marker to keep track of what was being removed. Helped me adjust the angle and do a better job sharping.
The many uses of a magic marker.

Re: Good tip
Not sure but I think the chemical in the magic marker will corrode your hooks. I say this because at my last job we used markers on Stainless Steel fittings during assembly only to find that the fitting would rust in that spot later on. Because of this we switched to wax pencils instead.
Just a thought.

Re: Good tip
I likes them lightly galvanized hooks from VMC. No rust and super sticky.

Re: Good tip
Miss B,
Are you at work this week? Everybody down at the smoke shack was wondering
what happened to you? Nobody has seen you all week! Asleep in a supply closet
someplace? Does this mean (now that you are posting again) that you have "come
out of the closet"??

Re: Good tip
Mark- been in and out a couple times but mostly out. The wife had to fly to LA on short notice so I'm mostly farm sitting this week. Did sneak down to the boat and polish a few more square feet 'tween chores though!
Speaking of which - bye!
