Default Hoozit Gonna Be?

Hmmmmmmmmm........whose the one that will bring home the first Oregon sport caught tuna? Who will be the first to head on the quest to Tuna Town?

I lucked out and got the last one of last season so I think it's only fair I get the first one this season, right?

Maybe I could get a special Salty Dog hat made with "Tuna Killer" printed on the back for the winner? Hmmmmmmmm....

Oh yeah, and that last tuna was the best tasting tuna I've ever had but it stands to reason because it was packed in about 200 lbs. of ice all by itself!!! Damn thing was almost frozen by the time I got back to shore!!!

Flash, Saturday May 31, 2003 ....

A small blue boat returned to Depoe Bay with several Albacore tuna on board, the first landed in Oregon in 2003.

When asked where the fish were caught the blood splattered man and woman pointed to the west and replied in unison

"Out on the Ocean".

They then grinned and with dazed and daffy looks firmly entrenched on their faces, they parked the boat by the fish cleaning station and unloaded the catch.

The name on the boat was 'PILAR'.

I think the story goes like this:

Flash, Saturday May 31, 2003 ....

A small blue boat returned to Depoe Bay with several Albacore tuna on board, the first landed in Oregon in 2003.

When asked where the fish were caught the blood splattered man and woman pointed to the west and replied in unison

"Out on the Ocean".

They then grinned and with dazed and daffy looks firmly entrenched on their faces, they parked the boat by the fish cleaning station and unloaded the catch.

The name on the boat was 'PILAR'.

His hands were covered with that black - metallic tuna slime . He hadn't felt that since last fall. Then he awoke in his lazy-boy chair, his dog licking the salt off his hands while the last few minutes of the "tuna history" video played on the TV/VCR. His mate came into the living room, saw the empty bottle of tequila, and said "get your ass to bed."

Instead of running back to shore during the next halibut opener I think it could be productive to search for current breaks and upwelling and try for some bluefin.

You're killing me Keta!

It's tempting based on the latest SST though! Only another 6+ miles out from the Ranch and you'll be in the "hot water" and if that sharp break of cool water gets a little closer.........

Hmmmmmmmmmm.........

Rod, the TA meeting may be the end of us all. Jen is negotiating for a place to stay and I know where the strapon tank is..........

Where's that 12 step list anyway .........

Ooooh Boy, here we go again! Salty Pups beware, the Old Dogs are gett'n jumpy! The scent is in the air but we haven't yet figured out where it's coming from! Keep all your hands and feet in the vehicle until the fat tuna sings, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Tunaholic 12 Step Program

Tunaholic Serenity Prayer:

”God grant me the serenity to accept the fact I cannot go out for tuna today, the courage to live another day without tuna, and the wisdom to know they will come again.”

12 Steps To Recovery

1) Put the poles down and slowly back away.

2) Stop hiding lures in various places thru out the house.

3) Never mistakenly call your spouse "Tuna" during lovemaking.

4) As hard as it is to believe, not everyone enjoys tuna fishing.

5) Selling your car in order to buy more gas to go tuna fishing is not recommended.

6) There are other fish in the sea, I think .

7) Leaving work daily to get home and accept packages from UPS/FedX is wrong.

8) No more telling your spouse the truck broke down while you were out fishing so you'll have to stay another day, or in extreme cases a week.

9) If extreme withdrawals have set in, for instance random "hook setting" while at work or home, or making the zzzzzzzzzzzz sound constantly, do not let the tunaholic near any fishing articles like magazines, fishing gear, or boats as that will make matters worse.

10) Tuna fishing is not a replacement for eating.

11) Unlike AA, recovery should be made away from other tunaholics. Gathering tunaholics will only create more problems.

12) It is not acceptable to miss your child's birth because you were out tuna fishing. (My wife told me that one)

I won't catch the first (I'll wait for somebody else to find 'em first).
I won't catch the last (after fishing slows down in the fall I'll fish chinook).
But with any luck I'll catch a BUTT load in between!
