Question Outlook Express Help

Knowing that there are many on ifish who are light years ahead of myself in computer skills, I thought ask for some help on lig. Somehow the spell-check on Outlook Express has changed from English to French and I haven't been able to change it back. Haven't a clue how this happened. If I go to tools/options/spelling the language listed is French. If the arrow next to the dialog box is clicked there are no other options but French. A right click on the box brings up "what's this" when then when clicked reads "specifies the language when Outlook Express checks spelling." I tried deleting French from the box to type in English but that didn't work either. Clicking on "help" and then "online support" brings up "sorry the page you requested cannot be found." This is more of a nuisance than anything else but if anyone has experienced this or knows how to fix it your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dh.

You should be able to click on the drop-down menu arrow button to bring up the choices for language. I have Oulook Express 6, and mine will bring up a number of language choices. If yours won't work then there might be a problem with your Outlook program. Here is a website for OE help. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone. Thank you fishnlady for this excellent link . It's now stored in my favorites for future reference. This was a big help and some browsing on it provided the answer to the problem. I would have never figured this out on my own. I recently installed Microsoft Office 2007 and there are some compatability issues with Outlook Express 6. When I installed it, I uninstalled the old 2003 version to free up some room on the hard drive. Anyhow, it's now just a matter of adding another free spell-check program which is compatable. In English, that is . Everything else works fine. Thanks again! Here's the article that explains it:

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in Outlook Express 6.0 after you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system

MORE INFORMATION

When you upgrade an earlier version of Office to a 2007 Office system, the old spelling checker files are removed for the following languages: •English•Spanish•German These files are replaced with newer versions that are included in the 2007 Office system. The new files are incompatible with Outlook Express.
