Attention all you winers! Please read.
My wife's b-day is coming up and I'm looking for a particular bottle of wine to get her for her big day.
A little background: we were in Maui celebrating our first anniversary in 2006. We were wandering the art galleries in Lahaina and found a little painting we liked. It features a bottle of wine and some cheese...for those interested, it's called "High Marks" by Eric Christensen. Anyhow, I thought it would be neat to get her that bottle of wine for her birthday.
I'd really rather buy locally as she usually beats me home and would find the package on the porch if it was delivered.
I think the wine is fairly rare or hard to find nowadays. Where do you go or where would you suggest looking for a:

i found it with a google search. You might go to your local wine place and have them order it for you and then just pick it up at their store... that way you don't have to worry about your wife finding the package.

Or you could always have it mailed to your place of employment. Its always cheaper to ship something from Business to Business rather than Business to Residential...
Just another thought.

"Gourmet Magazine labeled Liner & Elsen as “Portland’s Premier Wine Shop” and Bon Appetit labeled it as “the city’s most comprehensive wine shop by hard-core oenophiles” in the 2005 April issue."
They(Liner&Elsen) have helped me on two special occasions. Give them a call.

Too bad it wasn't 2Buck Chuck. Easier to find. Or is it up to 3Buck Chuch now?

The website for "The Cellar on 10th" in Astoria shows they have 4 bottles of the '01 Insignia left. if you haven't priced it yet, check it with them before you make the drive.

Yup, that's the one hanging on my wall. It's a shame the wine costs so much more than the painting!
p.s. - Believe it or not, the artist is painting with watercolors. I can't believe his colors are so nice.

Might a recommend Epoisse cheese (available at whole foods) to go with the wine. Its spendy but Epoisse is the king of the runny heart stoppers.

Tried Liner & Elsen. Great guys I spoke with. Looked promising at first, but didn't pan out. They did point me to an online deallybob again, but it'd have to be shipped...
