Default Down - riggers and trout.

Im still here , watching and waitting for the green light to chase tuna with you all.
This last weekend (Memorial) i took my little family to Hebgin lake Mt. The weather was great.
I took the boat over to Henery's lake and my friend got a 5 lb. hybred,(Rainbow/Cut.)
I also trolled Hebgin, and caught lots of fish.Just for fun ,I rigged up a rod on a downrigger with a Repala, and instantly caught a nice Rainbow at 58 ft. That was the first time i had ever hooked up a downrigger for a trout.
I now have 21 days on my boat. Im getting to feel like i know her pretty well.
I went back to the owners manual and CAREFULLY read it. The motor has a fuel/water separator built in to the motor with an alarm to warn you when it is full. They advise taking two spare filters along.
The manual clearly stated that you should not add valve's (three ways, filters , ect...) to the fuel line or you could experience stalling and rough running at low R.P.M.s .. They said that the valve could change the fuel flow pressure. The motor is E.F.I.. Im wondering if i should leave the three way i added???? The motor runs great ,,,, .... So much to learn.. id. p.

I think that the caveat was added as with all the equipment that you have before the motor it could cause restricted flow. EFI are sensitive to incoming fuel pressure or flow. Make sure that the three way is sized adequately for the amount of fuel your engine will draw. I think you can get bigger ones that are used on diesel equipment.

No fair using dynamite on trout. Downriggers are deadly on trout. If you use it in conjunction with your depthfinder to find the thermocline layer in the lake.

Thanks for the come back, Sensi-san. Ill look into the fuel flow thing some more.My boat tec. is a real wiener, and ill make a post about him later.Different story.
I only trolled the down rigger for half an hour or so. I now have a new found faith in the method for trout. Ill fiddle around with it more. id. p.
