What is up with that? I would think it would cause a real problem when his neck starts to swell here in a couple of months. It already appears a little snug.

The arrow in the first pic looks a little red. Maybe a little hair too. What did it come into contact with?

Re: My 08 Archery Season
Don't you see the bell on that collar? That is one of Santa's deer! How could you even think what you are thinking? ODFW does not want neck collars targeted and Santa will not bring you any new hunting toys!

Re: My 08 Archery Season
Come on, you are holding out on us. High blood on the sage must mean a left side hit and low right side exit. Since you are still hunting deer, it must be an elk. Since you are stinging it out, it must be a cow or a spike - otherwise it would be too big a story to sit on for long. Either that or that grouse must have been a blood balloon.
How about you tell us a story now. And then go out and make a new story to tell us in October?

Re: My 08 Archery Season
Or it could be a bear but that doesn't look like bear fur on the arrow. Good red blood but it doesn't look like lung froth. Heart shot.

Killing me too.........
It's odd I don't see the blood on the arrows with the grouse in the picture... I see some deer hair on the one photo though... Since when did grouse start growing hair?

I didn't even think to look for hair on that arrow, nice find. Time to spill the beans.
My arrow is going to look like that in about 3 days!

Bo hunter - you owe us some better stories and pictures after this cold trail. Something besides grouse, marmots and sunsets. Got your work cut out for you now to get back into our good graces.

Re: My 08 Archery Season
Well here's what I got for ya
I was planning on staying the opening weekend til the eighth and just hunting deer...but the elk, deer, grouse, bear, and road hunters drove me out after Sunday.
Saturday I called in a 5 point and two cows just using esterus calls, but just couldnt get a shot, got dark in a hurry. Also saw a smaller black bear, just couldn't get a shot ....and 25 does
I saw a forky buck Sunday morning....around 8.
At 630 AM Sunday I called in a 340+ 6x6 that came in the back door, AND silently....Im sure he had stood there at 40 yards just looking at me for a few seconds before I turned to check where he came in.
He was a hog though, and definately looking around for some ladies.
I have been chasin the Goose Buck around for the past week, and have seen him once since!

I am headed out tonight to hunt elk, alllllll the way through the end of the season, PLUS I got permission to hunt some property with a buddy that is packed with whitetails
Good Luck and shoot straight!

Re: My 08 Archery Season
Is it just me or is something not adding up. In the picture with the grouse there is no bloody arrow in your quiver, yet all the arrows are there. There is definitely some hair on that bloody arrow, but you didn't recover the arrow from the coyote and it can't be from the grouse. Also the blood trail looks to be a little high up on the brush to be from a coyote, but its kind of hard to tell. Is there something your not telling?
