Zooming out for the big picture....
This is from:
navy sea temp
From all the recent observations, we've got dead, green water with little to no feed, no upwelling, and no defined edge. We need more than just warm surface water....Hope it changes real soon.

""ALBACORE LIMITS AT DUMPER" May-24-03, 07:29 PM (PDT)
Hey everyone heres the latest on the hot Albie bite today (5/24/03).The Mustang fished an area 206 degrees 95 miles from Point Loma in 61 degree water today and landed 75 Albacore in the 15 lb range on spots of jumpers jig strikes the whole 9 yards.Wayne said the weather was very good in the early part of the day , but got pretty choppy in the afternoon(this is very important as I have been thru this area 3 times on the Indian in the past month an saw very little) This fish seems to be very weather sensitive.Anyway the BMS was 30+ miles west of the Mustang and landed 58 Albies as of 4 pm , there were several other boats in the area ,Legend ,Grande ,Holiday and Dominator.I did not talk to these boats but it sounded like they all had 50 fish or better. This area will get looked at real good over the next few day and if the weather hold I would say the season has started GAME ON !!!!!!!! lat# 31. 25 lon# 118.25 good hunting Capt Randel"
