Google Chrome
So far it seems a lot like Firefox. Anyone else using it? I like the incognito mode so far as well since I hate tracking cookies etc. on my machine. Here is a link for anyone who hasn't heard of it yet:

Re: Google Chrome
I read about it yesterday afternoon, but didn't try it out. I may give it a try at some point.

Re: Google Chrome
I downloaded it shortly after it was available. One thing I notice right off is that it is way better at memory management on my laptop which has limited resources. It is going to be awhile till I get used to the interface. So far so good though.

Re: Google Chrome
I believe that it is still in beta version so I think i am going to wait a while. It sounds like it is going to be a revolutionary browser.

Re: Google Chrome
GMail has been in beta for four years so if you wait for it to come out of beta it may be a while

I downloaded it yesterday and it is a lot faster then IE. I also noticed it is spell checking when I type on this forum.

Re: Google Chrome
I downloaded it a couple hours ago and so far I am a big fan. I'm still waiting to see what bugs may pop up.
But right now I am very very impressed

Re: Google Chrome
I just tried youtube and I don't think it has a flash plugin yet. Anyone got an idea for how to fix this one?

I had to try a few websites before the Chrome would ask me if I wanted to download the flash plug in.

They say it's coming same with a Mac version. It's open source so I am betting they are waiting on the community to do the port but I could be wrong.

Re: Google Chrome
It's faster than IE by far, and even faster than Firefox 3 (on my machine at least). It'll take some getting used to, though. I like its simplicity, but I really like all the Firefox add-ons.

Re: Google Chrome
Firefox 3.1 apparently has some great javascript refinements which already blow this out of the water.

I really like it, but my web-based apps at work don't work with it yet, bummer.

Re: Google Chrome
Do any techies know if this browser broadcasts back to Google where people are visiting on the Internet? I note that when I have Chrome open, there is steady disk activity.
Also, I note that passwords can be stored. Are they encrypted so that if your computer is stolen, no one can get your passwords from the browser?
Curious minds want to know....

Re: Google Chrome
Not sure about the password thing beings as I haven't used chrome yet; Or really heard anything about that issue. But I do know that with Firefox it only takes a few extra clicks and any saved password is visible to anyone using your computer, so lets hope that they are a little more protected on chrome.
As far as the browser broadcasting data back to google, it's a for sure thing. (If I knew exactly what article I read it in, I'd send you a link...) Google makes money off of advertisements, and what better way to try and make more money than having adds based off of the sites you visit the most?
I hear that there is also a security flaw with the browser as well, so be weary of java script and all the other crazy things there are on the internet just waiting to infect your computer..

Re: Google Chrome
Ive been testdriving chrome for a few days now. It has some minor glitches, but it is still better than IE.
Firefox is heads above chrome at this point in my book...it's only a matter of time before google buys firefox...heck, they may already own it.
