Default Seals as passengers?

Has anyone ever had a seal try to board your boat? I was at the far mouth bouy at Winchester and 20 seals (looked like a pack of swimming dachsunds)came hauling off the bouy straight for us!....one tried to slip up onto the offshore bracket upsetting the boat.....I skedaddled out of there with the "army" in full pursuit!

Funny...I named my boat after my deceased Grandmother(Edwina) who was a stray and wild animal magnet...animals, birds, pets....were all attracted to her for some reason....was somewhat of a description of her legacy...

Back in the late 80's while fishing for California halibut off Malibu in my 15' bayrunner, a juvenile seal tried in vain to hop aboard. Every time it jumped up on the side of the skiff I had to push it back off with the handle of my gaff. One time it's center of gravity was clearly inside. I then had to move due to it's persistence. There had been 2 kayakers lost about that same time due to a suspected great white shark attack in the same area. Their kayaks were found with bite marks. I suspect the seal might have been trying to escape impending doom.

I saw and photgraphed this behavior during the Halibut days just past. A huge school of large grey dolphins was boiling all aroung the boat and a sea lion pup popped up out of the water not a hundred feet from the boat. He spy hopped repeatedly looking at the inside of our moving boat and judging it's suitability as a roost.

We were moving or he might have boarded the boat. So was he running from the big grey dolphins or something with big nasty teeth lurking out of sight?
