Default Coastal Conditions 5/24? Help!

Was planning on heading down and fishing off the rocks down at Newport this evening. High tide is at 9:30 I think and I was hoping the Black Bass would be biting. Is the bay/ocean calm or rough. Is this a good idea?

Need info quick.

Thanks in advance, and I will post results if I go.

Jim

I wouldn't reccomend the drive down from Corvalis. Doesn't sound too good! Better days. Wind, rain and 9' swell. I live in Depoe bay and the wind is calm right at the moment. Will go down and take a look at the ocean in a minute and report back later.

Save it for a better day/evening. You could also call Newport Marina & Charters and ask Chriss for his opinion.

Dan

Thanks for the quick reply and the information. Haven't decided yet, the folks down at the Marina said the bay looked good and the wind was soft. Said he thought it wouldn't be to bad for fishing if you don't mind the drizzle.

Thanks again
Jim

Well, good luck if you decide to go. Drive safe to and fro. Holiday weekend!

The wind gust of up to 25 are forecast for later and it might not materialize. If it does, you will be fishing on the south jetty and the wind is out of the SW so you will probably be protected from it anyway.

Fishing the fingers are up the jetty a ways and you shouldn't have a problem with the swell there. Further towards the end could be a problem.

Got to go. Let us know if you do go and the fishing conditions under those weather conditions so as we can learn from it.

Good luck,

Dan
