After Woody and his wife left, the wind let off and it got real nice (like it wasn't suppose to do) and as I was leaving I bumped into one of the newer business owners in Depoe bay and got invited to go out in his small whaler at about 3:30.
After trying his spot that had been producing but wasn't, I talked him into showing him south reef and north reef.
Here's Tad pulling a bass over the side (south reef).
Then it was my turn and this was a nice bass.
Tad caught a pretty little ling that was about 25" and you can see the Depoe Bay bridge in the back ground (mid left hand side).
We only fished for an hour or hour and a half and we caught 8 bass and one ling and lost a few.
This is why I have pointed out in some articles that fishing rockfish out of Depoe Bay is so unique and special. You don't have to go very far at all to catch fish. You won't find a better place on the Oregon Coast to fish rockfish in a small boat!
