I hope that anyone going to the game is there already! Just drove on I405; thankfully I needed to go north. Southbound onto I5 was backed up 5 miles and then I5 itself was backed up a good 6 or 7 miles from the I405 on-ramp. Saw a lot of cars sporting Duck flags stuck in the line.

I wasn't gonna give the ducks any sugar this year, but I just can't bring myself to cheer for the Barney Dogs. So, I am going to cheer for the ducks one evening this year. Who knows, maybe I will be surprised and see something I like. So, for tonight anyway, go ducks.

OU offense at times looked good, at times not (early in the season and all) but the Duck defense and special teams play was top-notch.

Masoli looked GOOD once he settled in. Nice to know there is a quality backup. Hope the offense can get in a groove earlier in the game.

The defense looked solid. They had some pass interference penalties, but that will happen when you're as physical as the ducks are in the secondary.

The QB's all looked good, but Washington is NOT a measuring stick. Locker is the most overrated player in the country...IMO.

#28 Johnson for the Ducks LOOKS PHENOMENAL! Duck fans should pray that he stays healthy. That kind of player will win games for you down the road.

What do you guys think of the MLB Reed? He just doesn't look the part, but that doesn't mean jack.

I don�t think the Ducks have many, if any, weak spots in their Defense. I agree they had too many penalties on both O and D but it�s the first game, so to a degree expected. What I was surprised with most of all was their special team play, very good.

It�s good to start with a win, but they have a ways to go to compete with USC and ASU. For September I would expect the Ducks to go undefeated, they should. Then comes October with the meat of their schedule and then, who knows. Lots of positives for the Ducks to build on until then�darn!

IMO.....A lot of the guys on this team are very eager. I have heard this years D compared to the "gang green" D of the early 90's which from what I could tell was pretty close. I think there will be less penalties in future games after these guys settle down. both teams were doing the same, very eager to get out there and prove their spots. after a few games everyone will get into a groove and some of the freshman will learn the ropes of collegiate level ball. I think the pac 10 will have some good teams this year, and our local boys will have some work to do. anyway as always GO BIG GREEN!!!

I disagree.......if Locker's not on that team, they couldn't beat Western Oregon, much less a Pac-10 school. Put him on a decent team and he's a Heisman candidate.

Ducks did what they needed to do on opening day. Thow out the 2nd quarter and they look like a top-10 (or better) team.

It was a great game to be at, all 58,778 of us!!!

I was sad that Roper got his bell rung, but after J.Masoli and Chris Harper got the initial jitters off their backs, they both did a great job. It felt so great to put a big Thumping on the DAWGS!!

Jeramiah Johnson was simply Awesome. His first touch of the ball in the 2008 season goes for 44 yds, and a TD on his next run!!! What a Senior season he is goint to have!!!

I thought the Ducks defense was as good as we were hoping it might be, especially the line, which did a lot towards dispelling the notion they were an area of concern. Locker is a great weapon and they held him in check. After Locker, their next leading rusher carried something like 13 times for 19 yards. They say that defense wins games, and if that's true, we should do really well this year. The offense held up it's end too, and showed that they are good enough that it doesn't take a Dennis Dixon to run it effectivly. I can't wait to see Blount and J.J. in the backfield together, I'd hate to be the defense facing that combo. This team is going to be fun to watch and while we may not win 'em all, I don't think there's anybody on our schedule we're not capable of beating. The new screen was really great and I expect that some of the technical glitches will improve after everyone comes back for classes.

A great first game/warm-up for what's to come......The Ducks defense is the best in the Pac-10.....will be proven in So-Cal. All QB's looked pretty good, didn't see Roper get hit hard enough to be taken out unless it was by Bellotti after the interception ???

IMO, Jake Locker is a STUD QB....not overrated just under-protected. If Oregon had a QB like that we'd be in the top 5 and win the Pac-10 for sure. He is twice our "Back-ups" and they ran pretty good. What i'm pretty excited about is the DEFENSE!!! No matter what happens for the most part of the season....All I care about is watching the Duck Defense swarm and tear apart the Beavers front line and put OSU into their 3rd stringer.

Look out Utah State, Incoming !!

Roper got his concussion on the Duck's 2nd offensive play. After he pitched the ball on an option, he was hit head on and caught a knee in the back of the helmit at the same time. It didn't look like much if you weren't looking for it, but it was a pretty good hit. He still did a good job of running the team, but you could tell something was a bit off, particularly his last pass. Too bad his folks flew all the way from Georgia to watch Masoli.
