Wow! Talk about embarassed! I went out to the mail box last evening when I got
home from work ... there was an envelope from my diesel mechanic (Ken McKay out of
Newport). "Hmmmmm, I wonder what *this* could be" says I. "Ken hasn't done any work
on the boat since January!". I opened the envelope and there is a bill for $744!
"WHAT THE ???" A bill with no details or anything! "What was *this* work he
is charging me for?" ponders I.
Well, it seems that back in February when he sent me my bill it got filed incorrectly
and never got paid! No wonder he has been less that anxious to come up to Depoe Bay
and install that isolation transformer!! What really suprised me, though, is that he
waited so long to let me know that I still owed him money! What a nice guy (and a
*very* good mechanic IMHO). He probably just figured that I'd pay him when I got
to it ... but I was over 60 days past due before he even sent me a reminder!!!
I'm sooooo embarrased. How can I ever show my face around Newport ever again?
I wrote a little note of appology and dropped the check in the mail last night ...

I want to publicly thank Ken McKay for all the good work he has done on my boat
over the past couple of years ... and all he has taught me a lot about the care and
feeding of my diesel engines. You've been a real God-send Mr. McKay!!

Assassin,
Sounds like a 1/2 gallon of Crown Royal or a couple cases of his favorite beer or maybe one of those glass floats you have might help him forget and forgive quicker. He really sounds like a stand up type of guy.
How about coming up here and wandering up and down the docks? Maybe some of the karma will rub off on some of these guys and they'll remember the refer man's bills from last albacore season
