PC Tuna Tuesday 8/26
Several dories found lots of tuna 18 nautical miles W/SW of Pacific City on Tuesday. After a slow start, the ocean came alive with tuna. By midmorning, jumpers were almost constantly in view somewhere. Troll stops came after just a few minutes, and fish were frequently visible on the depthfinder. Judging from the radio chatter, it was a pretty big area of fish.
Our first few fish came on diving Yo-Zuri plugs, then it switched to a swimbait show. Toward the end, we retired most of the rods, and each fisher hand-held a rod for trolling. We also spent some time chasing jumpers, which we caught on swimbaits and a chrome/blue Sumo jig.
I'm not into plugging the boat, but we surely could have that day.
On the way in we got a couple of smallish halibut in an inshore spot. Altogether a great day with hardly any wind.

Sounds like a great day. Nice job on the fish.

Re: PC Tuna Tuesday 8/26
Thank you to Tinman for the opportunity to launch from the beach.
It was a great day on the water with a thoughtful fisherman.
At noon after an open bite, with the fish hold full of tuna it was time to head in, but wait, there's a halibut hole inshore on the way. One good drift and our halibut dance cards were filled.
Dorymen are a hardy group who fish in a pack and if someone has a problem there are friends close by to help, a stand-up group of boaters.
After fishing over 50 miles out on Saturday, 18 miles seemed too easy.
Thanks Charles it was fun.

Re: PC Tuna Tuesday 8/26
Nice work Charles!! Wish the ocean would settle down a bit, we're ready to go but of course the pond isn't cooperating. Maybe we'll get one of those calm PC mornings that bust the forecast... Heading over tomorrow early and will be there thru Monday.
Chris
