Back from Alaska (big halibut pic)
I was going to wait for Alex to tell the story, but I'm impatient!
Just got back from 10 days in Southeast Alaska. The primary goal was hunting the hill tops for Blacktail but the weather didnt allow much of that. It was 10 straight days of wind and rain. Ya gotta love SE Alaska.
We did a bit of river fishing and some ocean fishing. Overall it was slow with one real bright point. We met up with a fellow Ifisher (Brother Bill) and he took us out on his boat to try and chase halibut and coho.
Our ocean newby, Alex's (Quacka Wacka) girlfriend Ann hooked into her first halibut. It taped 80"+ (chart says about 280#, Nobody had a scale that could do the job).

Re: Back from Alaska
Well Rick you beat me too it I was just gonna post it. Here is another pic for perspective. My girlfriend is 5'8".
Thanks again Rick for the great trip.
Equiptment-wise we were less than prepared for boating a big halibut, but it made for a pretty exciting 'rodeo' at the boat.
And a big thanks to Brother Bill for taking us out and helping us fill a couple fish boxes for the trip home. You helped us turn our weather cursed Alpine deer Hunt, into a great fishing trip.

No doubt it would make a very entertaining story, but you'de need a beer in hand and the company of good friends to get the full effect.

Why would you want to do that, the 'rodeo' was the fun part. Getting her up off the bottom was just work.
And I'm glad you liked the Pendleton, its been a favorite of mine for a while. Thanks for the great trip. Be sure and get a hold of us if you head down south too.
PM me your email if you want a copy of the pics.

Re: Back from Alaska (big halibut pic)
WOW! I bet that was a lot of work just getting it to the boat; nothing like pulling up a truck from the bottom of the ocean, lol.
Yes, that dock does look familiar....a small town with the initials C.C.---great place.

Way more meat on that fish than one of those little 'ol blacktails anyway. Nice catch on both accounts...
