Default Columbia County Wedding Venues

My lovely fiance and I will be getting married next August and we are searching for wedding venues. We would prefer something close to the St. Helens/Scappoose area. So far we have looked at the Barnstormer (Scappoose Creek Inn) in Scappoose, Columbia County Fairgrounds in St. Helens and Caples House in Columbia City.

Does anyone have suggestions for wedding venues in the area? We are looking to keep the cost down and are planning an outdoor wedding.

Big Eddy Park
Vernonia Lake Park
Hudson Park (Rainier)

All come to mind.

That would be a great time, but we have a big reception in the St. Helens/Scappoose area planned for after the wedding. That is the reason for finding a venue close by. Plus our honeymoon will probably be in Cabo.

I will check into Wildwood, that could be a good option.

The places on Sauvie's Island we found are very expensive and require you to use their caterers.

Thanks for the responses! Keep 'em coming.

Check out Camp Wilkerson! Do a google search for thier info and images.

It has a small chapel, a large main hall, ample parking, a huge field, its deep in the woods yet easily accessible by any car... portions of it were built for a made for TV movie (and done very well). It is really picturesque and fairly affordable too if memory serves.

It is a little hidden treasure not too many people know about.

That's what we did. We had close family/friends in Mexico and then had a big bbq/outdoor reception for everyone back home. Best of both worlds!

I wonder if anybody has ever been married on Sand Island? You could have your entire wedding party plunking for some fresh steelhead you could grill for the reception. I can see halfway through the ceremony a rod bell going off and a mad dash for the rod. Hope your wife has a sense of humor.

Paul, Sand Island is the spot for sure! We could even roast a pig!

Have you checked out the Red Line or Barker's barn?

I have seen it done before and I would like to have it there. It would take a lot of work and coordination to get everything over there. Maybe if a good friend could coordinate it, we could make it work. cough cough Mike cough cough
