Default Your killing me.. I caught some trout!!!

I was feeling pretty good about myself and how i had done fishing over the weekend.
I took the boat to Hebgin lake Mt. It was cold, snowed a little, but we got a nice limit of Browns and Rainbows all around 18" long. I had fun and my boat partners were not drunk (my springer trip).
I get back to the ifish and i see you all are getting together and catching some Butts. Makes me feel a little empty inside. Like ive missed something, (a good Butt opener).
I have yet to land a keeper Butt. Im looking forward to getting in on some of these trips and getting to know some of you all. id. p.

With all the fabulous fishing around pokey you drove all the way to Hebgen to catch 18" fish?
You guys just wanted to get out of town.
Sounds like one of my trips to Henrys.

Here's a question to consider. Is it more fun to catch a 22# salmon once in a while or to catch 22 1lb trout regularly?

Since I moved here from Idyho, I give that a lot of thought.

Yep, until I found out about Salt Water fishing here I was missing Idaho and places like Chesterfield, American Falls, The Snake River and many many others. You have it better there than most people know.
I sure do miss Ice fishing and our annual pilgrimages to Montana to load up on Perch and Burbot. To the trips to Brownlee and the coolers full of Crappie caught on ultra light gear. I miss Twin Lakes and the all night parties followed up with Trout, Bass and Bluegill. Henery's lake in the Spring, the Stone Fly hatch on the Madison and the drifts down the North Fork. Tubbin the Portnuef and even the gravel pits towards the gap. There is plenty to keep you busy there and when you can get away we will be here for you.
The grass may seem greener on the other side of the fence but it all depends on where you put the gate.

You nailed it right on the head. Its all a matter of perspective. I love the area i live, and feel very lucky to be able to get to it , and enjoy it.
The fishing was good at Hebgin this weekend. Four of us landed a bunch and everyone went home with a limit (5) fish per man. These fish are good eaters this time of year, and they a blast to catch on ultra light tackle. I use a 6 1/2 ft. loomis, one piece, with a Scientific Angler fly reel loaded with 6lb test. It makes for a good fight out of a Hebgin trout.
I did need to get out of town and i love the area up there ,,, it is still early and cold enough, we only saw about three other boats. Im going back this weekend and taking my 10year old son and his friend. It will be another great weekend of fresh water fishies. I have salt in my blood and and its tough to be so far away.... .id. p.
P. S. The boat ran fine at that elevation.
