My latest fuel consumption figures...
I don't have the exact number of miles traveled, but we burned 37.8 gallons running (wave hopping) out to the ranch and back which left me with 55% in the tank. That includes running the boat backwards into the drift for 4 hours and running from drift to drift. I really pushed it on the way in, lots of full throttle to catch plane whenever I could in-between the slop and many near-complete stops to keep from launching nose first into some of those 4' wind waves. I'm thinking she could finally use a tune-up so maybe we can improve on that before tuna time

Re: My latest fuel consumption figures...
I put a new fuel management meter on this winter and calibrated it per directions. D*** thing said I was at zero fuel returning from the ranch yesterday with 6 miles to go. Needless to say I was pretty upset. I used 33 galllons total and it said I used 42. I heard an out of gas call and several other trouble calls to the CG even the Irish had to get a tow in for some kind of problem. That was a fairly bumpy ride back in eh?

Re: My latest fuel consumption figures...
Kenai, have you calibrated your sensor yet? The long trips are the best to do that on. I'm sure yours is the same as mine, you need to reset your trip log to "0", run the boat, refuel the boat, then go into edit mode(power the unit while holding the flow button) and change your trip log count to the actual gallons used. This should get your accuracy back. On mine, I calibrate it a little on the high side just to make sure, meaning the guage reads "0" but I have 5 gallons left.

Re: My latest fuel consumption figures...
I did calibrate it once but only used 9 gallons on my calibration run. Fortunately I reset the total and trip counts before yesterdays run. So I recalibrated today with a much larger usage. I'm hoping it's better, it sure had me nervous yesterday, I came in at 7 to 10 knots trying to conserve fuel when I had fuel to spare. A long ride. Is yours working accurately Rod?

Re: My latest fuel consumption figures...
Yeah, mine was working fine up until Friday when I had to take it out of the line to do an emergency Fuel/water separator install! I blew thru 2 inline filters on the Garibaldi Hali run and had to run back with no filter inline. Thus the reason for my late start on Friday's hali trip. I really needed to install one a long time ago but kept putting it off. Now I just have to go back and do some reorganizing in the bilge so I can get my flowmeter back online.

Re: My latest fuel consumption figures...
Yes IDP, get one. You won't regret it. Also take a few extra filters. I carry at least 2.
