Default Ifish..Brotherhood...

I know this subject has come up before....but after another opener I am again impressed.

I am very greatful to be amongst such friends, at every compass heading there was a Ifisher, willing to lend advice or a hand. On the way back home yesterday, I left the friends at the ranch and then came across Popeye half way to the pile, where I ran into Pilar and Mr. fisherman....then I intercepted my son and his injured friend about 5 mile from the bar. Times have changed.

OH Yes...for those who are not aware of what happened... my son came of a wave and hit so hard his friend hurt his back real bad, the CG did not want to move him so they put his boat in their prop wash and at 8 mph headed to Newport...at that point they checked him out and called the Paramedics that tied him to a board and took him to the hospital. I will get a update later.

Cheers my friends....

Sorry to hear about your son's friend getting hurt.

I agree that it's nice to see and hear so many ifishers out there helping each other out.
I didn't sign up until last november so last year I wasn't conected to the group while fishing on Big Blue. This last couple of days there was a big difference being out at the ranch (it was great).

To all of those who chimmed in on where the hits were and weren't, and what they were hitting on. A GREAT THANKS Now if we could only great that cooperation going in the rivers I could enjoy my springer fishing a little more to.

Wak, glad to hear he'll be o.k. It must have been horribly painful for him on the ride back. I know I'm missing a few teeth myself!

Great to hear all the ifishers out there! What a class act!

It was soooo good to hear so many Ifishers chatting and sharing. So many new voices and faces! It was a great weekend opener (except maybe the ride home yesterday!) I was really glad to bwe among the best folks in fishing! Count me as a Salty Dog for life! Whoever was the weather dancer...start up now so we can have one more good weekend of fishing for hali-butts! Cheers to all and condolences to those who could not make it out for the first weekend! Next weekend I hope to be able to spend a couple of nights there too....missed all the parties!

You guys are a great bunch, I wish I could have been there with you all, I had to spend all last week in Texas, it was hot and humid! Oh well! Sounds like you all did well on the butts, good luck and safe trips next week! Hopefully I will be back on the water sometime this year.

Never have I been associated with a group where you are so readily considered a friend, and an equal. Newport was a terrific experience.

Thank you all very much. I look forward to years and years of commerodery (sp).

Gotta go, I hae a story to tell on another thread.

Agreed! Here I was, showing up unannounced out of Sweet Home, and trust me, there ain't no ocean in SH. But I was welcomed and watched, with no one holding back.

Then, the first thing I know I'm learning how to tie tuna rigs and kicking tires at the boat shops. Questions have been answered, invitations made, and friends have popped up like porpoises in a boat wake.

Wak said it best, "I am very grateful to be amongst such friends."

AMEN. What a crew!!!

Glad to hear Little Wak's crew is gonna be ok.

The ocean was served up like a doughnut this weekend. It had big holes in it.

I found one on Thursday and my first mate broke his ankle. I had the boat turned around in seconds and was headed in but after 2 short minutes of running he made me do a 180 and we went fishing. He fished again the next day and then went home for an x-ray. One tuff fella who loves to fish!

He'll fish again...even if it is with a limp.

Watch out for the holes.....they come from out of no where.

I gotta chine in here and echo the sentiment on this thread.

Sturgn, if it's any consolation your former GPS took me right to the Ranch, no problemo. So you were there in spirit anyway. I wish I knew a little more about some of those way points but I guess I'll just have to visit them and learn for myself .

Wak, I'msorry to hear about your sons friend and hope he makes a full recovery. Technology to rectify those problems has come a long way. Hopefully he won't have to suffer too much. I hope your boy had insurance.

I'm looking forward to many years of fishing with the good folks that I have met on this board.

I too must say that it is very very rare to be so readily accepted into any group of people, much less such a great bunch of folks (yea, you too Jen! )
Meeting folks like Pilar, Puffin, Keta (who cleaned my fish and refused anything but a handshake and a thank you in return), Mr. Fisherman, Crazyfish, Fishplay and more, was like walking up to an old friend. It is rare that I meet such a quality group of people who actually
care about something or somebody other than themselves. I was truly impressed at the number of boats who hailed us due to our SD flag, and the amount of comraderie that exists among the SD's--even those that just met.
The contrast to 10 years ago, when you felt like the Lone Ranger out there, is incredible.
Thank you for letting me into your club!

"Friends have popped up like porpoises in a boat wake" Skein!!! You literary savant you! I love that line!!

Let's hope Waks boy doesn't need his insurance. We all take a certain amount of risk when we get in someone elses boat, vehicle, plane, etc. etc.
I believe in taking responsibility for myself--that's why I spend $600+ per month for health insurance for my family (self employed).
Thank God it was "just" compressed discs. I've lived with 'em for years (spearing was legal and taught when I was in high school , but illegal in College).
In summary--what a great bunch of folks. I'm proud to call many of you acquaintances, and looking forward to calling you friends.
Let's keep lookin' after one another--a guy can never have to many friends on the Big Blue!
