Default Rock pile

Went out on the Rock Pile today looking for the Halibut. Seas we not flat my no means and I have the 12 degree on my sled that really beats you up if the ocean isn't flat. We fished a few of my coordinates and could not find any halibut on the mid to sothern end of the pile. We did manage a couple monster Lings on that went over 23 lbs on the digital. 2 of my crew got really sick so I headed for land @ about 11:00. Saw a couple boats that were in from the chicken ranch that had Butts but not that many boats were back to port yet at noon. Seas and fishing must have been a little rough today. Good luck out there!!, I wont be going out tommorrow, the forcast is for 3 ft wind waves and I wont got to the ranch in my sled unless it is a lake out there. Tight lines  Luckyduck1

Lucky Duck, that was a wise call. It is tough to do and you should be commended. Well done.
Never put your boat or crew at risk. Pilar has driven this point home many times.
I hope to see you witha bend in your rod some day soon.

LD1,

Definitely the right call for Saturday. I went to the Pile with a friend in his 17' Whaler on Saturday. No Hbt's although we did limit on lings and released about a dozen shorts. The ride back was very wet and nasty and took almost 3 hours. We were both very glad we had decided against the Ranch.

I took my reg fishin buddy and both of your wifes to the rockpile on Sat. we got a late start they wanted to sleep in. By the time we got there it was already rough. Luckily for us the "wives" wanted to head back early.

Hey Vinny!
I am sorry to hear about the trip. We got out all three days butI am not so sure we should have been there on Saturday...uncomfortable in my boat! Not unsafe...just real bumpy. Sores everywhere! We got halibuts all days but were one short on Saturday. No lings and only a couple of sablefish besides the BFBs. Good weekend though. You going out this weekend? I am thinking about the pile too. Some nice fish came off of there and it is WAY closer! Let me know...I am on 78 most of the time.

I'll vouch for what WP said. I was in the boat and that 4+ hour ride in wrecked my knees for life. Holding that movable chair in position while you are on the back of a bucking bronco ain't no fun! However I can now walk up and down the stairs again, so I must be ready to go this weekend.

Well, in short 4ft ww and 9ft sw will send me to Florence to ride the dunes in stead!!! With a sled you have to have other hobbies to fill in the gaps when you can't go fishin on the big lake  I was talking with some guys at work that were on the south end of the rockpile in about 180 to 200ft doing very well last weekend. I was unfortunately up north. I suggest checking the 20 mile buoy before goin out this weekend. 4 & 9 combine to make 13 in my math, and I won't touch that!!! good luck Dogs!!! Steve aka Luckyduck1
