The camera flash has those scales lit up nicely making it look really chrome but a kokanee it is definately not.

Re: Koke or trout ?
The square tail with black spots around it and roundish head do look like rainbow traits. Did they say what lake it was caught out of?

Re: Koke or trout ?
Hatchery rainbow. Look at the deformed dorsal and the flat top of the tail. Nice fish though.

Re: Koke or trout ?
That my friend is a very nice rainbow trout (O. mykiss), not a Kokanee (aka. sockeye salmon or O. nerka).

Definitely a rainbow. Sometimes if they spend a lot of time in open water they take on that coloration, just like a steelhead would at sea.
