Default Sellwood Report Wed.2/18/04

Nothing happening other than some fellas in a weldcraft nettin a couple keepers. Water color is brown and just a couple boats working the bridge.
Waiting to see the infamous Happy Hooker rippin some lips. No sign of that " Trophy " hunter yet.
He's off today and my day for reporting in.

THANK YOU, turtlesoup! I appreciate you grabbing the reins on this.
Is the river fishable right now? I hope you were serious about the two keepers. I'm hooking the boat up in 15 minutes, and I really don't want to waste the gas for a round trip w/o the boat getting wet.
Thanks again for the report!

Willamette Park on the west bank north of the bridge is usually the best place to put in at. Large parking lot that has security. You can also put in at the Milwaukie boat ramp but it is usually crowded with no parking and no security.

Watched a huge sea lion munch on a nice springer at the mouth of the Willie on Sunday. Later in the afternoon I saw either the same one or another one munching on another springer at Frenchmans Bar.

Great. Thanks for the advice. Most people that you all have seen are probably fish with a wiggle wart or something like that?

B n B, there is a spot up the parkway a little further towards the sailboat club where they bank it for sturgeon. I've seen them haul a couple of decent ones up to their trucks. The other side near the pilings by the golf course has got some good sturgeon spots too.

Hey guys, just watched another keeper make it to the boat. A crew of four, high fivin!! I hope this pic' is clear enough to see the keeper he's holding up proudly. The water has made a quick change for the better. Got three boats working the waverly side of the bridge. Haven't seen any action from that side today, but I haven't been the watchdog that H.H.is. Trying to work and play at the same time makes it hard to do both well. This is the annual battle we face watching these boats gettin into some fish. But we love it!

Powers Marine Park is just south of the Sellwood bridge off hwy 43. Haven't fished there in years but might give it a shot if the springers are in the area.

BTW, my first post!

Phishin Phool...There's a boat launch right there at Staff Jennings. Can't get much closer than that.

For a bank fishing spot, park ay Sportcraft Marine in Oregon City. Walk upstream, alongside the hill above the river. You'll be going about 300 yards and you'll see a rocky point that juts out into the river. The river actually widens out around it. It's called Catholic Rock and the spinner pitchers were doing well there last year.

articulate leech,

You can bank it over @ Sellwood too. I seen this guy whack'em last year and he was the only one plunking. You would have to fish on the west side up stream from the bridge. He was casting around 25-30 feet out (not far at all) I always wondered why no one else fished there.
