Default Wallowa lake

Has anyone fished Wallowa lake for Mackinaw trout? My dad lives up there and I was wondering if anyone one knew anything about these fish. He catches rainbow and kokanees right now, but has never caught a Mackinaw trout. Thought about trying to see if I could buy him any downriggers for fishing the kokanees since they are usually pretty deep. thx for anyhelp in advance

I was there for Chief Joseph Days. We caught Kokanee up to 22" by trolling about 100 yards off the west bank. We had downriggers, but didn't need them. I know there are Lake Trout in there, but have never fished them. When I was a kid my cousin caught one about 27" from the bank, but that was the only one I ever saw

If you don't mind what were you using? I was using a ford fender and a kokanee killer, with red on the hook, about 5' back from the fender. Didn't get a bite and we were on the west side. Only kokanee that was caught was small and then three rainbows. Oh and I had a 3ounce weight, I let out about 45 pulls.

We were using something like a Ford Fender with a little flatfish looking thing about 30" below the flashers. Bait was a small piece of nightcrawler and a maggot on the trailing hook. We were using 2 oz of lead and I was out a long ways...probably 50 pulls or more
