Default Deer Hunting near Corvallis

I go to school at Oregon State University and it kills me to see the hunting season go by and not get the chance to get out and enjoy the outdoors. I was wondering if somebody could help me find some land that i could hunt close to OSU. thanks for the help!

Go west. Drive to the end of any forest road. Get out and look around.

Seriously, that coast range west of Corvallis is slam eat up with deer. Not quite as many as there used to be but still good. My suggestion would be to get a Siuslaw forest map and get out and do some exploring. Best bet for starting out would be clearcuts maybe 3-10 years old behind locked gates, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and during or after it rains. Take you glasses, hunt slow, sit and pick them apart looking for pieces of deer. Later in the season will be better than earlier so you've got some time to explore up some good spots.

When My buddy was @ OSU and I was at OCE, (now WOSC), We'd meet in Hoskins and hunt around there. McTimmons Rd USED to have some areas too. Peedee area may hold some roads that are open to get there too.

By the way, in those days we used rocks and sticks
