For tuna we tend to use 78 (used to be 77) and I see no reason not to use it all the time. It is what I stay on, when I have the radio on!

Most of us monitor channel 16 for hailing then go to another channel.
78 sounds like a good go to channel after hailing on 16.

Everready, I'll answer on 78 or 16. After the first day with Ray on 'Sea Lion' I'll be out there any day it is possible on 'Pilar'. The new ICOM MC402S kicks butt. Just like the boat it currently resides on. Now if I could just figure out how to use the DSC and all the other features. Gotta read the book soon.
