Newport Rockfish and Crab 5/2

Ended up spending most of the day in Newport. Beautiful weather, very sunny (see pic) but dang WINDY! First tried down at the south jetty......parked down near the end and braved the sandstorm to get further down on the rocks. Went out past breakers aways (on south side) and ducked out of the wind. Damn divers were working that side of the jetty........there were about 6 of us along the rocks and they came right by us all (see picture).....had to reel up not to snag them! Course I guess that wouldnt have been a bad idea in retrospect. They were nice enough to tell me and the wife that there wasnt any fish in the water where we were.......DUH! CAUSE YOU HAVE SCARED THEM AWAY. Im sure not all divers are jerks like these were. Too bad their pickup got stuck in the sand on their way out

We did manage to get 4 keeper crab along the public docks afterwards though :tongue:
