How many arrows do you carry?

I switched this year from a 3 arrow bow mount quiver to a 6 arrow quiver (bowtech). I did it specifically because I wanted to pack a field point with me as well as hunting arrows.

I'm still deciding if I want to fill the quiver. If I need more than 2 arrows, odds are bad things are happening anyway, so why bother. On the other hand, they don't weigh much, so why not?

Opinions? I've been shooting with 5 in the quiver this summer.

i have a 6 arrow quiver i load it with 5 arrows tipped with broadheads and one tipped with judo point to shoot grouse

I have an 8 arrow bow quiver and I'm considering a hip quiver to pack grouse arrows. Depending on where you hunt, a missed arrow retrieved is not alway reusable, so I like backups.

Typically 5. One for Elk, one for deer, one for bear and one for kitty.

The 5th arrow, which I insert inverted in the quiver so I don't mistake it for the others, has a blunt tip for 'miscellaneous'.

I carry 5 arrows total using a Alpine Soft-Lok Quiver. 4 of them have Broadheads and one has a grouse point.

BTW-Originally with my PSE I carried 8. It was nothing more than just packing x-tra wt. Realistically I can't ever see myself needing any more than 3-4 arrows. If I did then I'd be packing it up headed back to camp to practice more.

I've never yet had a season where I loosed 3 arrows at four legged game, so I don't see any reason to pack more.

Well I used to carry six arrows then one year I decided to carry only four arrows heck I never needed more than one arrow in years past I now carry six again.
Long story short a spike elk I call the spike from hell..I had four arrows took six shots and wish I had a few more. I finally killed him but it was a nightmare. I know I'm not the best shot in the world but I'm not the worst either, the only thing I can figure is this elk had a force field shield around his vitals the arrows went every where but where I aimed.
Point to my story is unexpected and weird things do happen a couple of more arrows don't weigh that much and you might be glad you have them.

5 All broadheads becasuse I watched a grouse with my blunt tip "grouse arrow" take a direct hit to the breast, lock its wings and glide away. They don't do that with broadheads.........

, and one used broadhead for misc. Why so many broadheads...? I don't know, probably because the quiver holds 8.

Broadheads are only a sure thing if you hit the breast.
Especially with blue grouse, a body shot and they can fly off with your arrow.

7 carbon techs with 100 grain muzzy MX-3's never needed them but i would rather have them then not if needed. especially back country, i am a what if kind of person.

I carry 5 broadheaded arrows. I was carrying only 4 a few years ago until this happened.

I shot at a big forked horn buck in the morning, missed. I didn't replace the arrow for that afternoon. That evening I had a spike bull walk up on me at 20 yards. I put one arrow in him and he ran off to about 50 yards and stood there wondering what happened. I zipped another through him and he split. Well I followed up to pick up my two arrows, found the first but I couldn't the second. So I walked about 40 yards past where he was standing on the second shot to look for blood and there he was already laying down. I picked out my last arrow and put it through him. He jumped up and crashed back down dead.

I was happier than a clam with all the excitement and not to mention my first elk. I headed back up the ridge to meet my dad at our arranged meeting spot. Low and behold there's a three point buck standing there looking at me at 40 yards. I look at him, he looks at me, and I look at my bow with no arrows in it! LOL I didn't really care at that moment though.

I carry one lock on and 4 in the quiver, all with broadheads, but my son normally drops the animal before I can shoot. At lease I get to eat some of it. In years past, if I didn't drop an animal with one maybe 2 shots, the animal wins and I don't throw any more expensive arrows away.

I have a 5 arrow quiver with 4 arrows with montec's on them and one arrow with a judo point that is in the quiver inverted so there are no mistakes

I carry four in my fuse quiver, three with broadheads and 1 judo, but I have an extra broadhead in my pack to replace the judo if crazy things start happening.
