Default Weather Forecasting Links

O.k. here are some of the weather forecast links I use. Please add any different or better links you may have.

First category: General Weather Conditions

1. This is a good site that has animated satellite images for the west coast. This helps me to figure out where the storm is coming from and if I can trust the ocean forecasts. This site takes awhile to load if you don't have DSL/Cable.
Weather Animation

2. The next one was posted by Popeye a few months ago. It has alot of weather related info on it but it's most valuable asset is the webcams of the coast out of Newport and Astoria. Just click on the cameras for a current photo.
TripCheck Webcam

3. This is a Wave Height Forecast link. This can give you a little better idea why the Ocean Forecast is trending the way it is.

Wave Height Forecast

4. General weather sites:
-- This has a map to click on for local forecasts as well as current radar and satellite images:
Local weather

-- Good general weather site. Type in the town your looking for at the top of the page and it will find the closest available weather station and give you a 1 week outlook. This site also has links to local radar, satellite, and marine forecasts.
Wunderground

There are a million general weather sites that I haven't listed but these are just a few of the ones I use the most often. Keep the list going.

I have mainly used Wunderground. I really like the Wave Height Forcast and the Weather Animation. Those are new to me. Thanks!

I've used Oregon Climate Service for years, and found it to mirror NOAA reports, along with having many easy to navigate options and links. It is maintained by the State Climatologist George Taylor at OSU.

Check out this NOAA site.

NOAA fader map

After it loads it's images, it allows you to fade between visual satellite at 4km to infrared and to WV (not sure just what that is yet). Just hit the arrows on either side of the fader bar.

I don't see this one in here so I'll post it again.

FNMOC

It's a little cryptic, but the information is there in more detail, but less resolution (bigger maps) than NOAA.

Check out Oceanography, WW3, North Pacific.

It's got.......

Significant wave height and direction
Swell wave h & d
Wind wave h & d
Peak wave h & d
Secondary wave h & d
Swell wave period & direction
Wind wave period & d
Whitecap probability

You can run a loop animation prediction over 144 hours into the future.

Then click on satellite and you can choose lots of coverage that really gives you an idea what is coming out of the pacific. Also use it for Alaska and Canada.
