Beware the South wind. If it does show it is brutal. If it is under 10 feet combined and the period is greater than 10 seconds it is do-able but not likely fun on a jet boat.
This is based on my limited experience and from what I have learned from others.
The only time I was ever nervouse on Tillimook bay it was in a South wind. I won't do that again and I wouldn't recommend it. If it was that rough inside the bay I shudder to think what it was like at the bar on the ebb or outside for that matter.

If anyone's been watching the local weather, there's this goofy system over us that's making one big circle, with nothing in the forecast to move it away. It doesn't have to move very far for the wind to change.

For this reason, I wouldn't expect today's forecasts to be overly accurate concerning wind direction. Last Saturday they were calling for winds out of the SW, we got out there and it was pushing from the East.

At least the overall trend looks favorable i.e. nothing over 10'.

That storm spinning is very much like the fabled weather vortex that appears anytime we try to schedule a fishing trip on a specific day.

Wait till Friday and then maybe we'll know something. In the meantime the preparations continue.

I'm gonna drive down to Southbeach Friday in the early AM, so far the forecast is still looking good at least.
Any interest in a tag team give me a call on VHF 68.

Default South wind for Saturday?

Looks as if it is now a West swell of 4 feet and wind wave of 4 feet for Saturday with 20 knot South winds. Wouldn't a south wind make a west swell pretty nasty? I have heard somewhere that a South wind is a no show most of the times on the Oregon Coast. Any truth to that? If thats the case, we should be looking at some awesome conditions out there hugh
