Default Dog at the Derby

No, not the halibut derby --

Are there any Salty Dogs with some horse sense? I mean, uh, someone who knows their ponies...I need tips, and lots of them. I'm leaving tomorrow for the Kentucky Derby.

I don't think there is a horse named "Tuna Time", but there were several with fishing type names last year in the various races.

It's amazing how smart you get after a few mint juleps!

The best tip I can give you is "Never bet on horses"
If I was still in Alaska I could ask a friend that's into horse racing (he worked stables when he was a kid) and knows the good bets.
Have fun.

If my Grandma was still alive - I'd say take her. She used to sit at the races (State Fair) and pick the winning horses while Grandpa was placing bets on the "wrong" horses! She didn't care about the money- got more pleasure out of Grandpa's frustration!

I took my ex-wife to the horse races when we first started dating. She won twice the money I did! She was a horse gal, so she’d look at the horses prior to the race and sure enough she’d pick the winners. I couldn’t believe it.

Lucky for me, she wasn’t as good at picking attorneys.
