Default The old dogs day...

All the old "Dogs" were out in force yesterday at Newport. Pilar, Puffin, Seasquid, and Gregotis. Nice trip out, not so nice on the return. I think I lost about 4 teeth on the ride back and took a nice saltwater bath!

Little rough for salmon fishing but we all managed some lings and various rockfish. I was the only one who crabbed, about 30 females, 2 males(both undersized) for 3 traps. :depressed: Where are all the males?

Still a great day on big blue though, man I love it out there, even on the rough days!

Yeah, old dog fits. Those Sunday trips just wear you out. Good thing I got a desk to fly on Monday so I can recover from the weekend. We got a couple of nice 10# lings and some red fish. The downriggers work good together and with enough wind I dont even need a motor to troll. I agree Rod, even the lumpy ocean days charge the batteries.

I can't wait to explore my Billfish curiosity.

Rod, I left the crab gear at home. After not getting but 1 or 2 a trip at Newport for the last couple a years I got the hint.

I'm calling the boat tested and ready to rock for the 6 days in May. BTW if you do not own trim tabs and have any issues with the ride on your boat they might be for you. On very rough water yesterday I had great control and was able to get a much smoother ride then I am used to almost 100% of the time. The bow does not rise up and block vision when I launch and the list and trim is completly adjustable.

It's like a new boat.

Dang, did we experience about every possible wind direction yesterday or what? Great to be out, I was a little surprised the east wind was so strong. We came in and spanked some monster cabezon and about 50 lings, three were keepers. I forgot my sunglasses, thus with the wind chop and sun I was having a little trouble seeing specifics coming back from the Pile -- I dang near gave a whale a concussion -- didn't even see him until I was right on him...

Yep, I think Seasquid's ready to roll for the halibut.

take care...see you all soon.

It was good to get out and make sure it's ready. All I need is a couple of belts and I'm hookin up. I spent most of my time running in circles trying to figure out the chartplotter finder combo, but think I've got it figured out.

Copy that on the Sunday trips Pilar, I spent a couple of hours asleep at a weigh station on the front seat and the boat still hooked up at work.
