Default Cold Water Survival Workshop 4/27 in PC

For anyone interested in being safer on the ocean, I will be conducting a COLD WATER SURVIVAL WORKSHOP this Sunday in Pacific City.

This will be your opportunity to learn and experience what it's really like being submerged in 50 degree water (and enjoy it) and be toasty warm. I cover theory, application, and equipment. You also will be outfitted in a dry suit to experience Cold Water in the surf zone. You will also learn about wearing ANY US COAST GUARD CERTIFIED EQUIPMENT as a stand alone item decreases your survival time by 40% to 85% as compared to "real world exposure" equipment.

Cost $50.00 (can be applied towards purchase of exposure equipment.

A note of caution: A "life jacket" won't save your life off the Oregon Coast, it will allow the professionals a better opportunity to find your dead body! Please be SAFE!!! Protect yourself

I'm curious. What time are you starting and when do you expect to finish? What does a participant need to bring? Are you limited in the number of students?

Wish I could go Kim, but must stay here. For anyone reading this thread, I recommend this class whole heartedly. Kim is very well educated on the subject and you won't find a better instructor. He will give you insight into surviving if you were to go into our waters.

I picked mine up as well yesterday. The class is well worth your time plus you get to play in the surf with the suit on. Unbelievable warmth in the suit. Kim gives you lots of good info on hypothermia. I been thinking about a test run for the suit somewhere in the river.

I went to see Kim last night to pick up my drysuit. It is really really nice. Kim went out of his way to help me after regular work hours and spent a couple of hours educating me in cold water survival. I will still approach ocean fishing with care, but I have a lot more confidence in my emergency plan.
