Weekend Project Complete
OK, so lately I've been taking apart and putting back together all my guns, guess I must be bored and need to hit the woods - is it hunting season yet . Anyway, I had a bone stock Remington model 700 LVSF .223 that I use to plink with and make life heck for varmints. It had a plane jane black Bell & Carlson stock on it that is OK but I wasn't thrilled with it being black. I had wanted to replace it with a McMillan in their GAP camo pattern. Well McMillans are pretty spendy and I had read about the Krylon Fusion spray paints being used to redo stocks. They have a line of ultra matte camo paints which I was able to find at Freddy's of all places. Anyway, spent the weekend taping and painting and here is how it turned out. Also went ahead and replaced the Leupold bases with a IOR-Valdada picatinny base, Warne low rings and the same Leupy 3.5-10-40 it used to have in it. I had also had the bolt fluted by a gunsmith called Kampfeld Customs - he does nice stuff.
Ok, so please be kind it was my first try at redoing a real stock, kind of flashy maybe but I really like the GAP camo - kind of a urban varmint look .

Very nice job!
Now you need to address the glare off that silver scope.

Re: Weekend Project Complete
Yah I know that scope is the wrong color - it will probably end up with a matte black VX-3 before too long.

The problem as I see it is your shop is just way too clean - something is obviously not right here.

Sounds like a plan. I've wanted to pick up a 700 LV SF in 223 for a while now. I figured I would switch the stock out with something more conventional like an HS Precision Pro Series 2000 stock in the ADL style. I had a Remington Model 7 CDL in 223 that shot well until the little barrel would heat up. I figured the 22 inch, heavier barreled LV SF would be perfect.
