#2 The second camera taking your picture messing with the first one. The backup is well hidden.

Or....the new breed of cell networked camera's that upload pic's onto a remote server.
(obviously developed for the midwest...since we can't get cell coverage in most of rural NW woods.)
Nice pic John.

almost correct. The network of cameras send pictures via blue tooth to a mainframe which satphones my pictures when I call in.

#4 prosecution and felony for being a thief followed by loss of hunting and fishing privelages.
I still think the primary reason you don't mess with someone camera is you don't want to run into the owner ... see picture in reason #1 and blaze that into your skull.

Re: Reasons you don't mess with someone elses game camera
I am seriously considering setting up a camera to watch camp this year. There seams to be a growing number of camp thefts and vandalizm cases. If it came to that it would be great to give the Sheriff a photo of the perps vehicle and person in the act.

John...John...John...
I agree but since we are both dads as well as outdoorsman, I am sure we both teach our kids to respect others property and messing with or stealing it is wrong. So what you meant was respecting others property was the primary reason. The other stuff is the well-deserved consequences, right dad. Then you ask to your kid...do you want me to hold him while you slug him or shall I slug him first?
Its going to be Hot HOt HOT, should I bring my goggles and flippers to the jumping pool this weekend?

Re: Reasons you don't mess with someone elses game camera
I've been in Bucky's pool all afternoon. I wanted to to go out cougar hunting again but nothing's going to move in this heat. I'll pack up tomorrow for the festival. We'll probably roll in there in the early early am Sat

POP... No Way! Now beer on the other hand that attracts all kind of fools. We were camping at the mouth of the Deschutes in the State Park and we had a cooler stolen. Right out from under our camper. Thieves are idiots and some of those idiots have large stones and no brains.
Mess with a mans cooler, trail cam, truck while in the woods and your taking your life in your own hands. So say I and my .44

Re: Reasons you don't mess with someone elses game camera
We had a spike elk head stolen out of a closed horse trailer 2 years ago. There was a pair of Swarovski binos right next to it, and they were untouched.
A trailcam watching camp might be a good idea.....

Sorry, I'm just not big on thieves of any kind, Maybe a better solution would be to just capture them, Tie them to a tree and use them as kitty or bear food. The thief that steals your camera/cooler/elk head in the woods is also the type of guy that wouldn't hesitate to steal something off your front porch or out of your garage or house if it was easily accesible. They are oppourtunity thieves and when an item of interest is presented they take advantage.
I know the right thing to do is to report it but let's say your in the woods and by some miracle an officer happens by and you inform him that someone has stolen your trail camera. First question - Can you describe it? YES! Second question- Do you know you may have taken it? NOPE! followed by a "We'll look into it" The result is no more trail photo's for you.
Maybe it's not worth someone life but then again maybe that someone is on there way to being a career criminal and by putting the smack down on them you saved the next guy from the same headache.
What would you do if you came back to your vehicle and the guy had all your hunting gear in a pile outside of it?

I see your point, but hunting gear, cameras, etc. and NEVER worth a LIFE.
Life is worth life...and that's it.
What would I do if someone had all my gear piled outside my truck?
Well, I'd make an effort to recover my gear, and hopefully detain the person until law enforcement arrived. But, if the guy ran, even with some of my gear, I'm not taking deadly force. If my life was threatened in anyway, that's a whole different ball game and my world would collapse into hell with the lawsuits that would follow.
Put simply, I've got too much to lose to get caught up in some court battle trying to defend why I shot some low life cuttie.
I'd just rather it be the State v. (insert low life's name here) for some Theft charge, rather than the State v. steelhead22 for manslaughter.
It's cheaper, less time consuming and I don't risk ruining my whole life if I just go buy new stuff.
