Best days of the week to fly?

What days of the week offer the best fares for flying? specifically from Portland to Maui. This won't happen until november or December of 2009, so i've got a little time to plan. We plan to stay 10 nights.

I've heard If you leave Saturday and return Wednesday, but no proof that that is accurate

I don't know if you can book fares that far in advance, but my mom keeps telling me one airline is offering $350 fares to Hawaii. I can find out more if you want.

In general, I've found it's cheaper to fly on T/W/Th.

If you look at Hawaiian Airlines site they will show you a week at time air fares. Generally Saturday and Sunday are the most expensive. Look at flying mid-week if possible. If you can get a $350 R/T ticket to an outer island buy it quick. The only time I've seen low priced tickets were in combination with booking a motel/hotel.

I fly several times a year. I always try to fly on Sunday mornings and thursday nights. Plus you get cheaper hotel nights on the weekdays.

Hawaiian air is currently offering rates as low as $360 R/T, Portland to Maui, nonstop, but you must fly between Aug. 16th and Dec. 16th of this year.

type in portland to maui,
and click the "flexible dates" option. It'll show you the cheapest flights on any airlines over the next few months.

tues and weds are usually cheapest, but you can find out for sure that way.

There is no good day to get into a sewer tube with wings - enjoy and wonder what has been spilled or thrown up on your seat while you're enjoying the close companionship of a complete stranger with a cold.

Saturdays and tuesday-thursday are usually cheapest when I check mainland flights. Keep in mind, a lot of return flights from Hawaii are red-eye.
