Default Sollie Smith to the bay

Has anyone floated in a drift boat with a kicker motor attached out to the bay and run over to the boat ramp at Garabaldi? I would like to see the last bit of the river sometime if it is safe enough to do.

Thanks,

Mark

Have ran my sled in the opposite direction. No problem, but I think you would want to take out over at Capt Johnsons on Cape Mears road. It will take quite a while to motor all the way to the big G with just a kicker.
But if time is not important, go for it.

Papermaker,

You have ran your sled up the Wilson from the bay? What time of year, and is the main channel easy to see? I would be drifting and it shouldn't be difficult to find I would immagine but sometimes rivers fan out and you can spend some time dragging your boat back to the fork. So, it is also safe to assume that all of the bridges downstream of Sollie Smith are high enough to drift under?

Thanks again,

Mark

You can definately get all the way to the bay. I used to run my d boat down there to bobber fish. Your talking a REALLY long trip to get to Garibaldi.

I think it would be nearly impossible to plan for tides, with that long of a trip. There are places both in the Wilson, and in the bay that you need to plan around the tides. You can get caught up in several places and have to pull the boat. Believe me, I've been there!
I would rather take out at Meares then at Garib. However, you'd have to plan for tides, there, too, to get upstream to the dock!
I think it would be a nightmare, personally. Well, fun, if you have the time and plan on maybe spending the night!
