Default Another Halibut Leader (pic)

Here is a picture of the Halibut leader that i usually use.

These are pretty simple to make up. I start with 200lb tuna cord, 2 12/0 circle hooks, a 2/0 swivel, and soft plastic tubing from the auto parts area of GI Joes. The plastic tubing needs to be good and snug over the eye of the hook to restrick movement.

I use these with a standard style spreader and booth hooks in a black label herring.

Oh, and for those who don't like to pay $4.00-$5.00 for a stainless steel spreader you can build your own out of a coat hanger. They have worked great for me.

This thing looks like a winner! I'm going to make one and try some of those whole sardines for bait.

Tuna cord is pretty tough and flexible.

Thanks Crazyfish.
