This link is provide by our benevolent queen of IFISH. I am told that it will be permanent for your tackle making enjoyment. I plan on adding more and ask you to contribute.

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
Thanks John,(you too Jen and Jenny).I've watched you make them up at the dancin dragon and the roadhouse but a picture brings it all back. I'm stocking up on tackle getting ready for the upcoming season and this should prove invaluable. Its coming!

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
John- Any plan to get a permanent link set up to access this archive. Kinda like one of the forums? It would be nice to not have to search the archives or find the links for the new folks. Not sure how to do this but something to think about.
A "how to" forum kinda like the guides read only? Posts made by the mods/admins only? There's some good stuff on the main board that could go here to!

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
Great start Jon. Miss B has a real good idea about a permenant spot for this stuff. Then you could even put a Fly Fishing for Tuna section in.

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
Agreed, we could make it better. Just getting the permanent storage was the issue. I'll ask Jen about it. A link to a tackle library for salty dogs would be the ticket.
Huey, fly fishing for Tuna?

Yea when there on the bite and you've got them all stirred up you toss a big saltwater fly and hold on tight.

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
South Paw- You're really getting the natives restless now! All the Tunaholic Salties will be over on the lies and flies board trying to borrow a 10 weight with 900 yds of 80 lb tuff line backing and looking to get a casting lesson!
First time I ever remember Pilar using a Graemlin on a post. You REALLY got his attention!

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
It seems like every time I try to shortcut one of Pilars techniques it doesn't quite work as well.
IE: knots in hand lines every 2 feet, that's a lot of knots. I tied them every 4 feet instead. Man! were my shoulders sore from stretching too far to pull in TUNA! They are now tied every 2 feet.

Re: Tuna tackle ... a slight return
I have never tied knots in my line for pulling. I guess its something that one might try for a better grip, but what do you do about the leader, as it is slippery too. Knots make lines weak. Those large geenies can max out line capacity.
As for pulling, I have found a great pair of line gloves or neoprene work just fine. I fish 10 hand lines and 4 rods ( a whole bait school!).
The best way and easiest way to pull a tuna is to get it coming and start pulling overhead, the fish will most of the time start to surf. If its a hot deep fish, pull the fish with the leader end torwards your pinkys and with long pulls past your side.
Never wrap the leader around your hands. Bend the leader around both hands for a better grip.
Good fishin'!

Dave....14 lines! Good thing they aren't all on rods, you'd look like a porcupine out there.
