Default Electric fuel pump

I am amounting an electric fuel pump in my 1991 Alumaweld (21 foot, 351W). I have no idea hwere to mount it. There is not a lot of room from the floor down to the bilge. Can I mount it on the transom? or does it need to be close to the carb? Or in other words, how far can it be from the carb?? Thanks!

Hi there,
I have a 21 foot alumaweld which was also a built in 91 with a 351 in it as well. Just curious why you are putting an electric fuel pump in it. Mine has a mechanical one. What size tank came with yours? Thanks...

Cool Re: Electric fuel pump

They can usually push up to 2 1/2 feet vertically ... As long as you use 3/8 line it should pump fine up to 8 feet away , but this depends on pressure of the pump and volume of consumption by the carb / injectors ...

The mechanical pump is wore out. No gas to carb. The pump has some pressure, but it is pretty weak. I have a NAPA water/fuel seperator on the transom, t-8 runs fine from it, so I an thinking the carb is not getting enough flow. It will run for a while, quit, turn over, but no gas in carb.

Cool Re: Electric fuel pump

A couple of fittings removed and a couple of bolts and the cam driven pump is off the block ...
It should be a cake walk to replace it ...

I also like the stock one on my 351 but if you have to change it out closer to the tank the better they push better than pull

The closer to the tank the better. They won't pull much of a head but will push a long way.

I'll tell you what it sure fixed my hard starting problems. No more cranking to get the fuel bowls filled any longer, just a quick flip of the toggle switch and broooooooom.
