Mens 400 meter relay
Unbelievable! What a race. And a world record. I had a feeling Lezak would take Bernard after the last turn. Another Gold for US swimming.

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
That race was incredible, I had my doubts that last 25 meters and then it happened. Best race I have seen. GO USA.

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
Thought it was pretty funny when one of the swimmers said "the Frenchies were talking smack" or something like that. So much for being p.c. but who cares. Great race and glad I watched it. I'd like to know what Le Monde's headlines say about the race.

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
Awesome finish!
Pretty crazy that the top four spots all broke the previous WR. How's that got to feel to the guys in 4th...didn't medal and their time would have been a WR (if the other 3 teams weren't there!). GO USA!

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
Phelps was a beast as he was cheering on! Amazing, absolutely amazing race. Then there might be that chance Phelps will actually make those 8 golds...

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
What was really fun was asking my swimmer kid what he did right, and what Hoff did wrong. "Flags in" she said, which just might be something her ex-swimmer dad has always, always stressed as the most important part of the race, be it a 50 or a 1500. Great to see the contrast, hopefully she'll remember it next time she hits the pool. Great race, and I was blow away by Phelps in his 200, you just don't win by that much in a 200 at that level. He just might get 8!
Anybody watch the waterpolo on Sunday? That's really going to be a tough row for the Americans. Still an animal sport!

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
This has replaced my previous all-time favorite "unbelievable" Olympic effort, which is Carl Lewis' anchor leg in the 1992 Barcelona men's 4x100 race. If you haven't seen this, it's on youtube. Lewis gets the baton and takes off like he was shot out of a cannon. The other runners literally look like they are standing still as Lewis just PULLS AWAY! He seems to run about a 7 second 100 meters.

Re: Mens 400 meter relay
That race might be the best moment in the Olympics!
On the other side take a look at Rau'shee Warren did in boxing. He should have watch the swim team for some pointers about competing and giving it your best!
