New Guy - Barfing, Laughing, and Fishing
I've been a lurker here for a while but decided to join when another forum member asked about the coho bite out of Windy Bay. I was there Thursday and Friday (8/7, 8/8) catching crab and listening to the guys at the cleaning station (free crab bait, and fresh!). Most boats had early limits and good sized fish. I saw one coho that had to go 14 pounds! But of course I couldn't post until I registered, so here I am.
A story: I fished tuna once with my brother aboard Richard Oba's Sydney Mae II. Sibling rivalry being what it is, we were competing with each other for the largest and most fish. We had plenty of opportunities that day as we were really in the fish. As luck would have it, my brother had a very nice tuna during my turn on the gaff. The swells were those high rollers that can turn you a little green after a while. We were trying to make each other sick by talking about which foods wouldn't go down so well just then. I could tell that I was starting to get to my brother when he started licking his lips. We've all seen the signs, at that point it's just a matter of time. When the fish was close to the boat I turned to my brother and said, "Clam chowder with a big pat of butter in the middle." I heard him call me an SOB, so I turned to look at my brother just in time to see him puke over the side. Of course I thought that was the funniest thing until, you guessed it, just like seeing someone yawn makes you want to, too, I just had to puke. So of course he starts laughing at me. Well, we spent most of the next four hours barfing, laughing, and catching fish. To this day he can't eat clam chowder.
Thanks for letting me come to your party.

Thanks, I caught that silver last year out of Windy Bay. Used a flyrod, no less! Drove my brother nuts!

Great story, nothing like sibling rivalry to bring out the best in us. Reminds me of my brother and I.

Funny story Pharmseller. Reminds me of a challenge to my best buddy, who said he could drink a gallon of rootbeer, and if he did, I'd have to eat 10 burgers we had just picked up from a cheep local burger place we called "The Fly Spot". He drank rootbeer until I was crying from laughing so hard, and he was green. Suddenly he ran to the bathroom, rootbeer shooting from his nose, me laughing. He looked at me, calmly walked out, pick up the rootbeer jug, and finished it off. Man were those burgers hard to stuff down.....
