Re: Sandy River Freezing
that guy is retarded...I have pictures of the whole river frozen over (10-15 years back), possible thick enough to walk on... It doesnt ice up and build a dam and flood. Just makes a nice solid sheet.
So back to you Brian Barker at "extreeme storm look out we are all going to die watch" at katu.

Re: Sandy River Freezing
It froze over in 96 worse than it is now. Was that way for days.

Re: Sandy River Freezing
I wonder how hard it would be to run a plug through a ice hole?

Sandy River Freezing
Just got this of the KATU site. I don't know what the implications are. I live on the Sandy and I'm a little nervous.

Re: Sandy River Freezing
This isn't the only river that is freezing over...I live on the washougal and it started to freeze over yesterday...This storm is starting to remind me of the floods of 96-97. The bad thing is its taking away from fishing time....

Re: Sandy River Freezing
I caught the story yesterday when it was broadcast live. The thing that i found surprising was not so much the sight of it but the sound that the Sandy River was making as the ice pushed through.
Thanks for the link, nipper.

Re: Sandy River Freezing
You dip the plug in hot coffee, or other liquids, and make your cast. It will melt through to the fish zone. You don't need to anchor, you just skate your boat to the best spot.
Jennie's side planer will work real well in these conditions. You can just walk out to your side planer and fix it if it's fouled, leaving your pole in the pole holder. With those snow/ice stilts on Jennie's felt soles, you can really get into your favorite drift! (Read Jennie's post on the front page of ifish).
