Great news on the fish, but..
Sloppy ocean? Makes me wonder about the reports for tomorrow. The picture has been steadily getting worse for the past twenty-four hours.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Hookset boated 22 including a 33 lb. Weather was suposed to be 1 and 3. I think we got 3 and 1. Very long rough boat ride coming back. We fished 124.48 to 124.56 aroung 46.11 to 14 Some got fish shorter, some longer. Hot lure was cedar plugs and then we got 1 or 2 more each stop on live bait.
Long day with one triple and a couple doubles. Heard a couple boats with 40 on board. The fishin was good, just getting back was a bummer.
Time to clean fish..........

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Long day on the water for me.
Dropped gear at 46.13/125 and trolled west around 9:15.
A few doubles, one quad, and spotty livebait fishing.
Ocean turned lousy, so we started running in around 1, with 20 tuna.
Lost fuel flow to starboard motor and ran in at 6 knots.
Five wet, cold, hour later, we made it back to Ilwaco.
It is not much fun docking a 35' twin screw boat on one motor, into the wind.
Luckily, Cpt Ron (Sea Tow) jumped aboard and put it in my slip (so I wouldn't hit his boat) like he was parking a car.
I am done for this weekend, but can't wait til next weekend, when I start a 10 day albacore vacation.
I hope the ocean treats you guys better saturday.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
We were going to go but I think we are going to pull the plug for tomorrow. Talked with a buddy that was at 46.15-46.05 and out close to the 125 line and he said it was a long slow ride back this afternoon. It's no fun when it blows for the south-southwest.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Just about 1 limit of fish for 3 of us guys. We ran out to the 125-20 - overran the fish from the reports. 3 bait stops with a few fish, but with 20 kt winds out of the south - well enough said.
Will evaluate the run in the morning. If it's blowing 20 kts at 3A - well, rolling over and going back to sleep.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Made the run out of the CR today, too. Lots of "ditto" from the other reports above. We were planning on running tomorrow, too, but with the weather deteriorating I decided to stay in port.
Started fishing at 46 15 x 124 55, picked up a few. Then ran out to the 46 15 x 125 18. Few singles and doubles. One good live bait stop.
The large purple/black Zukers were the ticket, way back on my outside riggers. These were hit over and over about 90' from my stern.
The run back in was ugly. 15 knots in my 33 footer, slamming all the way.
Thanks, Dean, for the updates and #s throughout the day!
Stephen

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Several boats out of Westport hit the area just north of the CR fleet (46.25 x 125.10). Slow in the morning but pretty steady by late morning. The wind came up strong and blew most of the guys off the water by early afternoon.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Pretty much the same for us here. Went out of CR to 46-11 &124-54 to start. Mostly doubles for us, couple of triples. We have a bit of a farming problem (new crew for tuna), landed 13, farmed 5 more with no good reason. Quit with a triple trolling in at 12/46. Weather wasn't close to the forcast, but I'm happy with the Cat. 17-20 Kts back in in the afternoon. Would have been a perfect day if the weather had been close.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Fished the 46 125 out of Garibaldi, lots of fish,
we talked about running into the CR and trying to get the boat trailer up to the CR, running south to Garibaldi took me a tad over 5 hours. Going south into a S wind made for a trip I dont want to do again.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
The grade of fish for us was really nice - about 1/3 of our tuna were 28lbs or more and many fell into the 23-25 pound class - we only caught 2 that were under 20 pounds. I caught my personal best tuna ever at 35lbs!

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Trailered SamBen up North to the CR put out of Hammond went to the same spot as everyone else, actually hit jumpers at the 48 line and dropped gear. Triple with just father and I on board boy is that fun.
The rest of the day was triples and doubles until about 12.30 when the wind hit and we high tailed it out of there.
42-45 miles out, if the weather would have stayed good it would have been wide open. Ended with 19 on clones all colors both rods and hand lines. Lost 2 fish at the boat, 4 more drive by's and a great day - the ride home.
Met Slab hunter very nice Carking with him made the work part of the trip go quicker.
See ya on the water.

Re: CR Tuna report Friday 3pm
Hell Froze had 13 out of Westport at 125.26 X 46.26. We pulled the plug due to building seas in my little tin can about 12:00, right after we found them and the fishing got really good. Hot was Black and Purple clones. Those wind waves made trolling too hard for me. Plus we got beat pretty bad coming back.
Nice thing was I wasn't supposed to be home till next weeke from Norfolk. Came back early because I have to leave again September 8th for two months. So wifes mad had two days home and Friday forecast looked great. Hooked up with Kodiak Mike and PugetSndDave and they both gave me boat envy with thier O/S's.
Wish the forecast would have held I could have filled my boat. Fishchecker at Westport said we had the most for the day. Others were doing on average 5-6 fish. I called out my first numbers and got ran over by a even dozen boats. So fished in a different direction and got into better fishing.
