Default South Coast Herring

I'm looking to stock up on herring (I like the vac-pac blues). Who has the best deal on good quality herring down here on the S. Coast  Thanks.

You can get the fresh stuff in Winchester but the best selection is probably in Bandon at the bait shops on the waterfront. They seem to have every flavor your looking for.

Thanks once again TC. I heard you can get the fresh stuff at Winchester, but to much hassel for me. I just like to get a case of frozen and put them in the freezer. I'll stop by Bandon and check it out next time I'm passing thru.

How was the Rogue? I worked down there yesterday (by Lobster Cr), lots of boats out. I'm going to give it a try on Saturday. Question: I have a prop on my sled, and a friend said no problem from Clay Banks down to Elephant Rock. What is your opinion? Take the DB?

Make sure you go to Bandon Bait.. ( the little shop furthest west on the water front) and talk to Diane. Tony at the porta cal might have bait but I can garentee you that it has been in his freezer for at least a year or more.

The rogue sucked the big one. We were in a great spot with the proper gear and didn't see a fish come close or nibble at our rigs all day. However, a major problem was the water temps dropped pretty bad the day before we were there. It was a 6 degree drop so pretty dramatic and lockjaw was the common word around.

As of your prop there's a lot of places you can take it. We put in just below Lobster and you can fish a lot of river down from that point or go to Quosatnia and fish up there. The lower river is shallower the closer you get to tidewater. It's kinda hairy in a few spots with it 2' or so coming up river but can be done. Low tide can be especially interesting. So don't worry too much about the prop where you're talking.
