halibut seat open.

does any generous captain have a seat open
for halibut during the coming season? I'm interested in sat. the 10th. I have plenty of gear and a extra rod for another guy.
I'd appreciate it, pleeeeeeeeze!

Come on boys! ok, how about if I post a newbie story, new to salty dogs anyway.....

I was up fishing for halibut with my dad. First time for these things. We were on a boat out of
Homer alaska so I figured we'd be into a huge barn door before we knew it. Sure enough, I'm down 450' with like 4lbs of weight and after 5 minutes I get a good tug, let it eat it a bit and reef up hard. Fish on. Very heavy, but not what I expected with the fight. I pulled and reeled for forever, and could not understand why this thing was so damn heavy. I'm sweating profusely, heart pumping as the hali nears the surface. What the!! It's the biggest ray/skate I've ever seen. It was like dragging a living room size of wet carpet up from 450'. God I was so dissapointed. Dad did land the biggest fish on the boat that day, so it was ALL GOOD.

So far the halibut gods are not shining down on me. We all apreciate the open seat offers, and I would be greatly indebted to the kind soul who would welcome me out for the day. I'm trying to brown nose here! What's it gonna take, I'm willing to wheel and deal.

I may have a spot on the opener (8th) but you'd have to make it down to Coos Bay to do it. Let me know if you're interested.

You might want to re-read some of the other recent posts.... there have been some offers of open seats.

thanks guys! I'll drive about anywhere to make a trip out. I'll see if the 8th can work, was hoping for a weekend seat, but beggars can't be choosy. I'll let you know once I speak to the boss.

yes I will have some open seats for all days of the may halibut season . Boat will be at the Embarcadero in Newport. E mail me to set a date.
