Default Coos Bay

Heading to the bay area for a 3-day weekend. Wondering what the best bets are for a bank-bound angler/crab-ring thrower/clam digger are.

Is the Coquille/Isthmus Slough/Coos River any good for salmon/steelhead/sturgeon.

I've dug clams up by the north jetty (long walk)
thrown rings off the Charleston docks and caught fish off the sout jetty.

Any tips are appreciated.

Right now the South Jetty is producing a few Lings and Perch. Most people are using sand shrimp or herring for them. As of the other fish you mentioned it's too late for steelies (closed Mar. 31st), too early for salmon, and you need a boat for the sturgees because of the tidal flats.

As for the rest of it, probably the easiest place to clam is just south of the charleston bridge. Lots of clams and a few other people to go with it. Easy access also. Crabbing has been spotty even for boats lately.

So in all your best bets are fishing off the S.Jetty or clamming. Crabbing off the dock has possibility but who knows on that front. Might get a couple might not. Looks like the ocean will be out this week so it's not going to be very nice on the forcast I saw.

Also heard they are pulling a few fish off the north jetty as well.. so that might be worth trying, but the south jetty is much easier to get to..
