Default God help me...

I just bought a pound of 200# handline...next week, snubbers and swivels. I feel I'm in a slow spiral.......but I'm still in control of my life! I am! No 50 mph rocketfish is going to control me!

Tunaholic 12 Step Program

Tunaholic Serenity Prayer:

”God grant me the serenity to accept the fact I cannot go out for tuna today, the courage to live another day without tuna, and the wisdom to know they will come again.”

12 Steps To Recovery

1) Put the poles down and slowly back away.

2) Stop hiding lures in various places thru out the house.

3) Never mistakenly call your spouse "Tuna" during lovemaking.

4) As hard as it is to believe, not everyone enjoys tuna fishing.

5) Selling your car in order to buy more gas to go tuna fishing is not recommended.

6) There are other fish in the sea, I think .

7) Leaving work daily to get home and accept packages from UPS/FedX is wrong.

8) No more telling your spouse the truck broke down while you were out fishing so you'll have to stay another day, or in extreme cases a week.

9) If extreme withdrawals have set in, for instance random "hook setting" while at work or home, or making the zzzzzzzzzzzz sound constantly, do not let the tunaholic near any fishing articles like magazines, fishing gear, or boats as that will make matters worse.

10) Tuna fishing is not a replacement for eating.

11) Unlike AA, recovery should be made away from other tunaholics. Gathering tunaholics will only create more problems.

12) It is not acceptable to miss your child's birth because you were out tuna fishing. (My wife told me that one)

Please refer to these steps in order to stay on the right path in the future.

Boy, no kidding. Today I walked up to a complete stranger and said "I'm going to start fishing for tuna." Then I just walked away. My wife has spent the last weekend having to hear all about it. Tonight she said "Listen Mister! If you think you're going to be gone tuna fishing every decent weekend we have this summer, I will leave you!"

....Man, I'm going to miss her.

You'll know when it gets really bad when your wife says " Listen here Mr. Fisherman... "
And when she says you need to see a doctor to get a prescription for pain because " You don't want to waste your PA days because you want to use those to go kill fish... "

I sure do love my wife and I'm grateful she understands my affliction...

Banana Boat- Why miss her? Be a tuna-pusher... Take her along. She'll never be the same.

The fact that Pilar and I are both afflicted only causes problems when one of us can't go... well, there is the $$ issue, but who cares! We can't take it with us!

In all honesty, I couldn't ask for a better wife. She's incredibly understanding to my needs to enjoy the things I love (she's seen how grumpy I get when I can't do them).

As for her going to tuna town...she gets seasick watching my boat drive down the driveway. I'm hoping to get her and the daughter into a little calm day salmon fishing this summer (for there entertainment and increased quality time together, NOT SO I DON'T HAVE TO PUT FISH ON MY TAG!) . For the most part though...they just aren't into it. Anyone have a hard working teenage son they want to sell?

Hard-working teenage boy - isn't that an oxymoron?

I've got a teenage son I'd like to sell, but he is neither hardworking nor seaworthy - doesn't even really like fishing. :depressed:

He IS a terrific kid, actually. All kidding aside, life would be very dull without him. I think I'll hang onto him for a while.

Hey Corrirod,

I was getting a little concerned about No. 12 last year -- I was going to hate to see you have to use the Trophy as your primary home.

I've got a new girlfriend and I told her if you are still with me in October than we might be compatable. Actually, she is a diver, so I said I'll just throw you out and you can spear the tuna, halibut, etc.

Oh, forget the teenage boy. I can be bought and or adopted. I come with my own boat and many tuna clones.

Everybody have a terrific Tuesday.

Well Seasquid, making the boat my primary residence isn't necessarily out of the question yet, it seems to be a cyclicle problem I'm faced with every summer!

Banana, it's only just begun. Wait till tuna season starts and you start to see posts on this board, it'll drive you nuts trying to figure out how to get out of work, chores, family obligations, just so you can go too! The stress was too much for me so I did what I had to do...........quit my job! Next is divorce my wife and abandon my kids but the TA meetings are helping to avoid those issues for now!

Whaaaaaaaaaat?

I'm not a down-and-out, in-the-gutter tunaholic yet. I'm trying to keep tuna from destroying my home life but it's hard! I need another TA meeting fast!
