Default Depoe Bay slips ...

Hi All,

I just remembered a conversation I had with Harbor Master Gary down at
Depoe Bay this past weekend ...

The jist of the story is: there may be up to 10 FEWER slips available
this year because of silting in the bay and re-arrangment of the finger
docks so the bigger boats can have a side slip in deeper water.

With the expected increase in Salmon quota this summer, there may not
be enough slips to go around! I think that for those of you that actually
leave your boats in the water part of the summer, you may want to make your
arrangements for a slip earlier this year than you normally do!! I suspect
that there might be similar problems at South Beach as well with the influx
of sport salmon fishing boats ...

Just a thought

-assassin-

BTW, I think when we penciled it out, if you got a slip for four months,
for just a few buck more you could get a slip for the whole year?? Can't
exactly remember, but it might be something to consider!

Mark- I figure somebody can have your slip right? Don't you just pull up on the rocks anyway!

Sorry- couldn't resist! Payback will hurt I know!

Does anyone know a place in Newport or Dopey Bay that has secure boat storage? I am interested in leaving my boat on the trailer ocassionaly rather than tow back and forth (halibut days and weeks on silvers-tuna) I appreciate any help.

Hi Dave, just south of the bridge in Newport about 1/2 mile there is a boat repair / storage place that looks like it has a fenced in storage area. Can't remember the name off hand but maybe someone can chime in...

The business you are referring to is Newport Marine and RV Service at 541-867-3704. I don't have any idea on how they run their storage business, but I know they have it available.
